Claude Code v2.1.310: Monitor on Bedrock, Gateway Retries
Claude Code v2.1.310 brings the Monitor tool to Bedrock, Vertex and Foundry, retries requests some gateways reject, and shows symlink targets in read prompts.
Claude Code v2.1.310 has 26 changelog entries: 14 fixes, 6 improvements, 3 additions, and 3 changes. The Monitor tool and plugin monitors now work on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry and with telemetry or nonessential traffic turned off. Requests that some gateways reject for the effort-2025-11-24 beta value or mid-conversation system messages are now retried without them, and Enterprise custom roles gain cloud sessions and Remote Control permissions. Two fixes tighten permission prompts and hooks: file read prompts now show where a symbolic link leads, and a Windows case where hooks let a tool call through is closed.
Monitor Tool on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry
The Monitor tool and plugin monitors are now available on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry, and when telemetry or nonessential traffic is disabled. Long foreground sleeps are now blocked in those setups too.
Requests Retried When a Gateway Rejects Them
Requests failed behind some gateways and compatible servers that reject the effort-2025-11-24 beta value or mid-conversation system messages. Claude Code now retries those requests without them. If you run Claude Code through such a gateway or compatible server and saw requests fail this way, update.
Enterprise Custom Roles for Cloud Sessions and Remote Control
Enterprise custom roles now include permissions for Claude Code cloud sessions and Remote Control, so Owners can control access to each by role. Turning on Cloud sessions or Remote Control in admin settings now asks for confirmation and lists the custom roles that have that permission.
Permission Prompts and Hooks
- Symlink targets in read prompts. File read permission prompts now show where a symbolic link leads.
- Windows hooks without Git Bash. On Windows,
PreToolUseandPermissionRequesthooks let a tool call through when Git Bash was missing and the hook’s command was only quoted strings, such as a quoted path. v2.1.309 fixed a related case, where PowerShell hooks failed open when Git for Windows isn’t installed. - Auto mode and reads outside the working directories. Auto mode’s prompt before the first read outside the working directories now says when blocking those reads makes shell commands ask for permission.
Changed Behavior Worth Noting
- Long foreground sleeps are blocked in more setups. Along with the Monitor tool, long foreground sleeps are now blocked on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry, and when telemetry or nonessential traffic is disabled.
- MCP elicitation timeouts in non-interactive sessions. When an MCP tool call times out in a non-interactive session while the server’s elicitation is unanswered, the error now tells Claude that no answer came and not to repeat the call.
- The cloud environment dialog now opens network access, the setup script, and environment variables from rows, instead of listing every editor at once.
Sessions, Compaction, and Cleanup
cleanupPeriodDays. Background cleanup deleted some recent files, such as pasted images, whencleanupPeriodDayswas set to a very large value.- Compaction after “Prompt is too long”. Compaction kept too much of a conversation with dense text, such as base64 or SVG, so the next request could fail again.
- Non-interactive memory use. Memory use of non-interactive sessions (
-p, Agent SDK) during compaction is improved when the transcript file is very large. - Question timeouts. A question’s auto-continue timeout fired the moment the external editor closed after a long edit.
Linux Sandbox Warnings and Mod Images
- Linux.
/sandboxand the sandbox startup warning now name Ubuntu’s AppArmor restriction on user namespaces, and how to lift it, when it keeps bubblewrap from starting the sandbox. - Mods. A mod’s
Imagenow draws inside tmux withallow-passthroughandfocus-eventson, in kitty, Ghostty, and iTerm2 3.5+ with fullscreen rendering, where it showed only itsalttext.
Cloud Sessions, VS Code, Claude Tag, and Code Review
- Cloud environment setup scripts. A Choose file button loads a cloud environment’s setup script from a file, and the session start checklist shows the setup script’s output in a scrolling box.
- Cloud session errors. Failed saves and archives in the cloud environment edit dialog now show an error inside the dialog, and failed routine API token actions now show their error in the routine edit dialog instead of only a toast.
- VS Code plan review. Pressing Enter on the plan review card’s “Send feedback and keep planning” button approved the plan instead of sending your comments back.
- VS Code and cloud sessions. The panel showed “Something went wrong” after “Switch branch & continue” on a cloud session opened from Session history’s Web tab.
- Claude Tag.
!commands such as!restartand!helpare no longer treated as ordinary messages when sent in bold, italic, or strikethrough. Admin channel and workspace pages are no longer replaced by a load error when a background refresh of the bundle list fails, and the spend limits page in admin settings no longer reports that no channels match a filter while channel names are still loading. - Code Review. The admin section no longer hides its repositories and switches after a failed refresh of the repository list. It now retries the first load and shows one Try again banner when it still fails.
All 26 entries are summarized above; the official changelog has the exact wording of each.
