Anthropic Knowledge Work Plugins: All 17 Official Plugins

Anthropic's knowledge-work-plugins marketplace lists 123 plugins, 17 by Anthropic. A guide to each official plugin's skills and connectors, from sales to legal.

Updated October 21, 2026: The marketplace has grown well past its original 15 plugins. .claude-plugin/marketplace.json now lists 123 plugins, of which 17 are built by Anthropic inside the repository and 106 come from partners. The per-plugin inventories below were re-derived from the repository today: most official plugins have moved from a split of commands and skills to skills only (181 skills, 5 slash commands in total). The article also now reflects that Claude Cowork and chat merged into one Claude on September 16, 2026.

Anthropic’s knowledge-work-plugins marketplace turns Claude into a domain specialist for any role. Its manifest now lists 123 plugins: 17 built by Anthropic and 106 contributed by partners. The official plugins were originally built for Claude Cowork — which merged into Claude on September 16, 2026 — and they are also fully compatible with Claude Code. This guide covers every official plugin, its skills, commands, and connectors.

What Are Knowledge Work Plugins?

A plugin is a bundle of skills, commands, and connectors for a specific job function. Unlike generic prompts, plugins encode deep domain expertise — step-by-step workflows, industry best practices, and tool integrations — so Claude works like an experienced colleague in that role.

Plugin Architecture

Every plugin follows this structure:

plugin-name/
├── .claude-plugin/plugin.json # Manifest (name, version, description)
├── .mcp.json # MCP tool connections
├── commands/ # Slash commands (optional; rare now)
└── skills/ # Domain knowledge (auto-activated)
  • Skills encode domain expertise. Claude draws on them automatically when relevant — and you can also invoke one explicitly, because a plugin skill runs as /plugin-name:skill-name (for example /sales:call-prep or /data:write-query).
  • Commands are explicit actions you invoke. Only two official plugins still ship a commands/ directory — the rest moved their workflows into skills, which are now addressable the same way.
  • Connectors wire Claude to external tools (CRMs, data warehouses, design tools) via MCP servers.

Everything is file-based — markdown and JSON. No code, no infrastructure, no build steps. The whole repository is Apache-2.0 licensed.

Installation

In Claude:

Install directly from claude.com/marketplace/plugins.

In Claude Code:

# Add the marketplace
claude plugin marketplace add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins

# Install a specific plugin
claude plugin install sales@knowledge-work-plugins

You can do the same from inside a session with /plugin marketplace add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins and /plugin install sales@knowledge-work-plugins. Claude Code’s documentation lists anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins as one of Anthropic’s topic-specific marketplaces, separate from the official marketplace (claude-plugins-official) that Claude Code registers for you on first run.

Plugin Management Plugin

Create, customize, and manage plugins for your organization.

Skills

  • cowork-plugin-customizer — Customize existing plugins for your specific tools and workflows
  • create-cowork-plugin — Guide users through creating new plugins from scratch

This meta-plugin helps teams build their own domain-specific plugins following the same architecture. Its name and its skill names still carry the Cowork branding from before the merge into Claude.

The Partner Ecosystem

The 17 official plugins are now a minority of the marketplace. The other 106 entries are partner-built, and they come in two forms:

  • Vendored in the repository under partner-built/: Apollo.io, Brand Voice, Common Room, Slack (by Salesforce), and Zoom. These five live in the Anthropic repo like the official plugins do.
  • Referenced from the partner’s own source: the remaining 101 entries point at a partner-owned git repository or a hosted URL, so the partner ships updates on its own schedule.

The catalog spans observability (Datadog, Grafana, Honeycomb, SigNoz, Langfuse), databases (ClickHouse, CockroachDB, PlanetScale, Prisma, Qdrant), design and content (Figma, Canva, Adobe, Miro, Sanity, Cloudinary), finance (Intuit QuickBooks, Carta, LSEG, S&P Global, BlackRock Advisor Center, Vanguard Advisor Tools), security and compliance (Auth0, StackHawk, Vanta), and productivity suites (Box, Dropbox, Intercom, monday.com, ServiceNow, Zapier). 36 of the 123 entries carry no category at all, so browse the manifest or Claude Marketplace rather than relying on categories.

A few examples

Apollo (Apollo.io) — Sales skills for contact enrichment, ICP-based prospecting, and loading sequences directly.

Brand Voice — Discovers brand voice from scattered company materials, generates guidelines, and enforces voice consistency across generated content.

Common Room — GTM copilot with account research, call prep, prospect list building, weekly briefings, and strategic account planning.

Slack (by Salesforce) — Official Slack server for team standups, channel summaries, announcement drafting, and discussion search.

Zoom — Meeting, recording, and transcript workflows from inside Claude.

Key Design Patterns

After analyzing all 17 official plugins, several patterns emerge:

1. Skills Absorbed the Commands

The original split — skills for knowledge, commands for actions — has collapsed. Only PDF Viewer and Product Management still ship a commands/ directory; 181 of the 186 components are skills. Because a plugin skill is addressable as /plugin-name:skill-name, a skill can be both the thing Claude reaches for automatically and the thing you type.

2. Research-First Workflows

Most plugins follow a research → synthesize → draft → execute pattern. Sales researches before drafting outreach. Customer support researches before responding. Legal researches before reviewing.

3. Multi-Source Integration

Every role plugin integrates five to thirty-five external tools via MCP. This is the key differentiator — Claude doesn’t just generate text, it pulls real data from your actual tools.

4. Playbook-Based Decisions

Legal uses negotiation playbooks. Sales uses competitive battlecards. Finance uses close checklists. These encoded workflows ensure consistency across teams.

5. Chained Skills for Whole Jobs

The newest plugins compose skills into chains rather than single steps. Small Business describes close-month, monday-brief, and tax-prep explicitly as multi-link chains over other skills, with human approval at every step that touches money or customers.

6. Progressive Depth

Each plugin works standalone but becomes more powerful with customization. Generic starting point → company-specific tool stack → team-specific workflows → individual preferences.

Building Your Own Plugin

The cowork-plugin-management plugin helps you build custom plugins. The process is straightforward:

  1. Define the manifest — plugin.json with name, version, description
  2. Write skills — Markdown SKILL.md files encoding domain expertise, one directory per skill
  3. Add commands if you need them — explicit slash commands for actions a skill shouldn’t own
  4. Wire connectors — .mcp.json pointing to your tool stack

Since everything is markdown, you can fork any existing plugin and customize it for your organization.

Conclusion

Anthropic’s Knowledge Work Plugins represent a significant shift in how AI assistants work. Instead of generic chat, Claude becomes a domain expert that understands your role’s workflows, connects to your tools, and follows your team’s best practices.

With 181 skills across 17 official plugins — and 106 more from partners in the same marketplace — there’s a starting point for almost every knowledge worker. The real power comes when you customize them, swapping connectors, adding company context, and adjusting workflows, to make Claude work exactly like your team does.
