Enhanced Model Access Control with enforceAvailableModels

The headline feature of this release is the new enforceAvailableModels managed setting. When enabled, this setting provides administrators with comprehensive control over model availability:

  • Default Model Constraints: The availableModels allowlist now constrains the Default model selection. If a Default model would resolve to a disallowed model, the system automatically falls back to the first allowed model in the list.

  • Strict Permission Enforcement: User or project settings can no longer override or widen a managed availableModels list, ensuring that organizational policies are consistently enforced across all levels.

This feature is particularly valuable for enterprise environments where compliance, cost control, or security requirements mandate specific model usage policies.
